How to add products

Below are instructions on how to add products to wardrobeAve.com

How to add product details

  • Click on add products on the left side navigation

  • Enter the name and description of the product.

  • Select the category for your product. You can list the product in multiple categories by holding the control key and clicking on multiple categories.

  • Enter tags (optional). See above image
  • Browse the product image. You can add multiple images for a product by clicking on upload after you browse to the image. The first one added will be used as the default image while the others will be displayed as thumbnails on the page. Images will automatically be resized and will display full versions when clicked. Resizing works best on .JPG images.

  • Enter your price. You don't have to use all the price fields if you don't need them. The only required one is the Sell price field which tells WardrobeAve how much to charge the customer to purchase this product.

  • Enter your shipping rate.

  • If you want to feature the product, check the "Featured this" box and it will show under your Featured items page.

  • If the product is a downloadable product, upload the file. (Downloadables are products like patterns and How-to PDFs that you want to sell.)

  • Once done filling out the product form, click Save or Save and continue if you want to add attributes

How to add Attributes and Options

Products are not created equally, and in some cases the customer gets to decide the type of product they want. For example, your store may sell t-shirts, and the customer may find a design they like but need to get it in a certain size. In a situation like this, you will need to take advantage of the product attribute system in WardrobeAve. It lets you define attributes (like size), give them options (like small, medium, and large), and enable attributes and options on a per-product basis.

Assigning attributes and options to products:

  • Browse to the product you want to affect and click on its Edit tab.
  • This brings up the product edit form, but it also displays several sub-tabs for the edit page. Click on the on the Attributes tab.

  • To add attributes, there is a link in the help text (see above image) labeled add attributes form that you can click on to pull up the attribute list. Select the attribute(s) you want to add to this product and submit the form.

  • After adding the attribute, you should see something similar to the image below.

  • Now click on the Options tab.
  • Here you will see a table for each attribute you have assigned to this product. It contains a listing of all the options associated with these attributes. For each option, verify that the values set are correct, or disable any options that aren't available for this product. Here you may override the defaults; the default value must be one of the options you selected. If an attribute is marked as required, it will actually disregard the default selection so that customers are forced to look at this field and make their own decision.

  • Submit the form when you have made all your selections and changes.
  • You should see this a page like the image below now. You can remove or make the attribute required on this screen.

  • Save your changes and click on the Adjustments tab to assign SKUs to your attributes.

Product SKUs and Adjustments

On WardrobeAve the product model (usually defined by a manufacturer) or SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is the main identifier for a product across the various systems. The main SKU for a product is automatically generated. It will look like "103-2", where "103" is your user id (the id of the person who added the product to our website) and '2' is the product id. For the purpose of this handbook page, we will use the term "SKU" to refer to the field, though in some parts of WardrobeAve.com it may be referred to as "Model."

It is important to know that while every product must have at least one SKU defined on the product form, you may end up using more than one SKU per product node. The additional SKUs will be needed for the product attributes (color, size, etc). Once you have attached attributes and options to a product, go to the Adjustments tab on the product Edit page. On the adjustment page, you will see a list of all combinations of your attributes. Give each one of them an SKU, for example if your product is a skirt and the auto assigned SKU is "103-2" and the skirt comes in sizes small, medium, and large and comes in blue, grey, and red. You can assign each combination of the attributes a unique SKU by combining the names of the attributes. For example, the size small blue skirt can be setup like this: 103-2-small-B or 103-2-BlueS or 103-2SmallBlue or just add letters to the end of the main SKU like 103-2a, 103-2b, 103-2c, etc. Whichever way works for you. If you already have your own style defined, you can use that. Click “submit" once you are done.

Stock level

Under the product edit page, click on the Stock tab. Enter the amount you have in stock for each SKU assigned to the product and check Active to make the product SKU active.

You will be notified by email when your stock is running low. Enter an amount in the Threshold box that you want the stock level to stay above before you notified of the low stock level. A warning email will be sent if the stock level reaches the threshold level.
