Product SKUs and Adjustments

On WardrobeAve the product model (usually defined by a manufacturer) or SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is the main identifier for a product across the various systems. The main SKU for a product is automatically generated. It will look like "103-2", where "103" is your user id (the id of the person who added the product to our website) and '2' is the product id. For the purpose of this handbook page, we will use the term "SKU" to refer to the field, though in some parts of WardrobeAve.com it may be referred to as "Model."

It is important to know that while every product must have at least one SKU defined on the product form, you may end up using more than one SKU per product node. The additional SKUs will be needed for the product attributes (color, size, etc). Once you have attached attributes and options to a product, go to the Adjustments tab on the product Edit page. On the adjustment page, you will see a list of all combinations of your attributes. Give each one of them an SKU, for example if your product is a skirt and the auto assigned SKU is "103-2" and the skirt comes in sizes small, medium, and large and comes in blue, grey, and red. You can assign each combination of the attributes a unique SKU by combining the names of the attributes. For example, the size small blue skirt can be setup like this: 103-2-small-B or 103-2-BlueS or 103-2SmallBlue or just add letters to the end of the main SKU like 103-2a, 103-2b, 103-2c, etc. Whichever way works for you. If you already have your own style defined, you can use that. Click “submit" once you are done.
